Questions from Chapter 13
- Many Psalms are laments. What role has lament had in your prayer life?
- When you mourn, how have you experienced the Lord’s comfort?
1. Lament has had a serious role in my prayer life. I appreciate this chapter because, I can personally testify that in my crushing seasons, I learned how to call on GOD. I have been in those moments where things hurt so bad that I could not even utter audible, coherent words. Sometimes all I could say was “LORD!” or “JESUS” or “help”. Other times, my tears and moans spoke for me. Then in other times, I was in so much pain, that I didn’t even have the capacity to make a sound at all but my spirit was in bitter intercession. My mind goes to the account of Hannah in I Samuel 1:9-18 where Eli the priest saw Hannah’s lips moving in prayer but there was no sound. Hannah explained to Eli that she wasn’t drunk but was praying out of deep discouragement and was pouring her heart out to the LORD.
2. GOD responds to my cries by giving me HIS comfort in the following areas: (1) With HIS PRESENCE (2) With HIS Power (3) With HIS Provision (4) With HIS Protection (4) With HIS Promises and (5) With His Plans.
