1. What details regarding the profile of the U5 are discussed in this chapter?
2. Do you believe U5’s are unreachable by the gospel message (Explain)?
I can’t say that the U5’s are unreachable because I’m sure that there are former U5’s in the Kingdom today, but I’m sure it was difficult. But several things stood out to me 1. Was those who praised their professors for helping them to reject religion… much prayer, how one can be so instrumental in causing others not to believe. 2. The statics for those who earned more money were likely to be U5’s… I have seen this time after time especially among the rich and famous. 3. At the root of most U5’s is bitterness, hurt, pain, rejection just to name a few… unfortunate experiences that started at home or within the church has left a bad taste for God and religion.. but God is still able… the believer should not give up on U5’s
I appreciated the profile of the U5’s: Highly educated, wealthiest, most unlikely to attend church, doesn’t believe in a heaven or hell, etc. However, I appreciated most the doors that could be used to soften the U5’s heart or plant seed. It was suggested that one would have to use apologetics in order to reach this group. A couple of the books that were suggested, I started reading and it has given me a greater desire to go back and finish my reading of these materials.
I don’t believe at all that U5’s are unreachable. The bible declares that a living dog is better than a dead lion, Eccl. 9:4a, there is still hope, lets just do our part open our MOUTHS!
Some of the details about the U5’s that got my attention was how some were so passionate in their distaste for and disgust of God and/or the church. As I read through some of the direct quotations my mind kept going to people who’ve I met throughout the years who were U5’s. Some of those people were dealing with some serious past hurts. Like Lady Tiffiani and Crystal, I too believe that the U5’s are not beyond God’s reach. It will take special intercession and creativity to win them. I am interested in strengthening my command of apologetics too especially when dealing with U5’s on a college campus.
It has really been an eye opener to me as we continue our reading. A lot of times we hear “church phrases” and say to ourselves, yes they have it but we can’t stop there… It is like looking at a person to determine their level of health. Well a true doctor – an ever learning student of the medical profession – worth their degree will make an assessment of the individual which will include a series of questions, a hands on physical and will even go as far as to draw blood.
In this same mannerer, as continuous students of the Word of God, we should go deeper and not take a surface approach but do some fact finding of how one knows that they are truly saved.
Thank God for this reading and as we have all chimed in some way are open to Holy Spirit lead opportunities to serve in sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ ♡
